Tier 1 (General) Scheme for Highly Skilled now expects you to meet Maintenance Funds Requirements and you have to score 10 Points for Maintenance Funds, without which your Tier 1 General Application will be refused.
What is Maintenance Fund:
Maintenance Fund is the spare money or savings you should have to take care of your living expenses in the initial period of your arrival in the UK as a Tier 1 General highly skilled migrant OR if you are in the UK and lose your job.
Maintenance Fund requirement is different if you are applying under Tier 1 General Scheme from within the UK or from your Home Country. Even in the UK, if you have been in the UK for less than 12 months, Maintenance Funds requirements are different.
Maintenance Funds Requirements will also depend on how many dependants you have when you apply under Tier 1 General Scheme for Highly Skilled.
Tier 1 General for Highly Skilled - Maintenance Funds Requirements
Maintenance Funds Requirement for Tier 1 (General) Scheme – Max Points 10
Under Tier 1 General Scheme, you must score ten points for Maintenance Funds which must be available to you continuously for past 3 months prior to submission of your application.
If you are applying within the UK, the Maintenance Funds requirements depend upon the length of your stay and how many dependants are included with you.
If you are applying outside the UK you need £2,800 for you as main applicant and £1,600 for each dependant who would be travelling to the UK with you.
For applications within the UK your supporting evidence should be dated within one month of your application and for applications outside the UK supporting evidence should be dated within 7 days of your application.
