What are Differences Between PBS Visas and non-PBS Visas?

UKBA / UKVI / Home Office UK has implemented Points Based System for UK Immigration and the Points Based System includes Tier 1 for Highly Skilled, Tier 2 for Sponsored Skilled Workers, Tier 4 for Students and Tier 5 for Temporary Workers. However, there are other various visas designed for various purposes. These visas are divided under different Immigration categories like ′Settlement Visas′ and ′Non Settlement Visas′.

Non-PBS Visas Lead to Settlement

While Settlement Visas (like Tier 1 General or Tier 1 Entrepreneur or Old HSMP Visa) allow you long period of stay leading to Permanent Resident or Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK, non settlement visas are for shorter periods and do not lead to Permanent Resident status. There are other Visas available, as under which are still not part of PBS System, which allow you to come to the UK for different purposes:

  1. Domestic Workers in Private Households
  2. Sole Representative of Overseas Business
  3. Representatives of news agency, newspaper or news agency Turkish Businesspersons Visa
